LedgerGPT puts a conversational layer on top of traditional accounting systems. Instead of navigating complex menus to generate reports, you can ask questions like 'Show me expenses over $5k in Q4' or 'What were total payroll costs for the SF office?' It translates natural language into SQL queries and presents results in plain English. The tool also automates journal entries based on rules you define in plain language. For example, you can say 'Allocate rent expenses evenly across all departments' and it creates the entries automatically. It works with QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite as source systems. However, it requires some accounting knowledge to verify outputs — the AI can generate syntactically correct but conceptually wrong entries if you phrase things ambiguously. It's a productivity tool for accountants, not a replacement.
