Connected Papers generates a visual graph of papers related to any academic paper you input. Instead of searching by keywords, you start with a paper you know and the tool maps out similar and related work based on citation patterns and content similarity, showing how papers connect to each other. The graph visualization makes it easy to spot clusters of related research, find seminal papers in a field, and discover recent work you might have missed. You can also generate Prior Work and Derivative Work views to trace the evolution of ideas forward and backward in time. Connected Papers is a complement to traditional search engines like Google Scholar or Semantic Scholar, not a replacement. It excels at the exploration phase of literature review — when you know one good paper and need to find more. The free tier allows a limited number of graphs per month.
