Adobe Firefly is Adobe's answer to the generative AI wave, integrated natively into Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Creative Cloud apps. It generates images, text effects, and vector graphics from text prompts, with a strong emphasis on commercial safety — all training data comes from licensed Adobe Stock, openly licensed content, and public domain material. The Generative Fill and Generative Expand features in Photoshop are Firefly-powered and have become genuinely useful for production work. You can extend backgrounds, remove objects, and composite scenes in ways that previously required hours of manual work. The standalone web app at firefly.adobe.com is free to try, but the real value comes from the Creative Cloud integration. If you already pay for Adobe, Firefly is included. The output quality is solid though not always as artistic as Midjourney — it excels at clean, commercial-ready imagery rather than stylized art.
